CAPILLARYS 3 is much more than a new instrument. It is a unique and exclusive automation program, designed to address the current and future needs of all laboratories. CAPILLARYS 3 TERA, offers the enhanced throughput of a 12 capillaries system, lateral access for a tube loader or a workcell configuration, and a platform to process dry blood spot assays. Several CAPILLARYS 3 TERA configurations are offered.

The stand alone instrument can be further upgraded with:

  • A high capacity tubes loader (up to 500 tubes).
  • A workcell configuration, with up to 3 instruments. CAPILLARYS 3 TERA MC is able to process either very high volumes of the same test, or batches of different tests, providing full walk-away flexibility.
  • Another option of CAPILLARYS 3 TERA is the analytical track compatibility, with CAPILLARYS 3 TERA TLA.

The CAPILLARYS 3 program offers a broad assay menu: Proteins*, Immunotyping* and HbA1c venous blood*.

Coming soon: HbA1c capillary blood, Hemoglobin whole blood, Hemoglobin Neonatal Guthrie and CDT IFCC.

    Capillarys 2 – The New Generation of Capillary Electrophoresis System

    This innovative system optimizes the concept of liquid flow electrophoresis for application in the clinical diagnostic laboratory. Eight narrow capillary tubes filled with electrolyte solution function concurrently providing unsurpassed throughput of up to 80 serum protein results per hour. Proteins are detected directly at a wavelength of 200nm eliminating the need for staining while providing a high degree of precision and accuracy. Complete walk-away automation is provided from start to finish.

    Designed for continuous feed of samples, the operator simply places a bar coded primary sample tube on the instrument. The CAPILLARYS does the rest. Tight temperature control during sample migrations provides consistent reproducibility from analysis-to-analysis and from capillary-to-capillary. A new SQL database system allows for storage of an unlimited number of result curves and data. Additionally, an imaging scanner can also be connected to the CAPILLARYS for scanning and processing of all other Sebia assays eliminating the need for any additional densitometer or imaging device.

    TECHNOLOGY PRESENTATION

    Sebia agarose gel electrophoresis: a well-established and robust protein separation technology

    Protein electrophoresis is a well-established technique routinely used in clinical laboratories for screening of protein abnormalities in serum and other biological fluids. The semi-automated gel electrophoresis instrument, HYDRASYS, has been developed to provide a complete test panel with high sensitivity and good resolution.

    TECHNOLOGY PRINCIPLE

    The Sebia gel technology is based on the principle of separation molecules in an agarose medium. The HYDRASYS instruments allow simultaneous sample analyses on one gel. Sample application, migration, washing and staining are performed automatically.

    Three types of separation occur according to:

    • The charge of the proteins, in a specific pH buffer
    • The isoelectric point, in a specific pH gradient
    • The molecular weight of the proteins, in a SDS-agarose gel

    The processed gels can be scanned by a densitometer, on-board the HYDRASYS 2 Scan or with the stand alone GELSCAN, in order to quantify the protein fractions.

    ASSIST

    GEL TRACEABILITY STEP 1: THE PIPETTING STATION FOR THE PREPARATION OF HYDRAGEL

    ASSIST is the first step of the agarose gel traceability, completing the automation of the HYDRASYS system. Designed to ensure full standardization for all pre-analytical steps, ASSIST directly pipettes from the primary tube. The instrument dilutes (standard or customized mode), and applies the samples on the Sebia disposable applicators. For immunofixation, ASSIST dispenses automatically the antisera on the Sebia’s dynamic mask. Traceability is provided by barcode management on primary tubes and sample applicators for all types of HYDRAGEL tests.
